DR. MICHAEL DOBBINS EXCELLENCE IN NUTRITIONAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Life Chiropractic College West alumnus Michael Dobbins, DC dedicated himself to educating fellow practitioners, students, and patients about the value of combining chiropractic and whole food nutritional supplements to help maintain a healthy lifestyle. His immense contributions have led to a greater understanding of these philosophies and ultimately many lives have benefited from his passion to share his knowledge. In 2009, to recognize Dr. Dobbins’ accomplishments as an educator, Standard Process Inc.®, manufacturer of nutritional whole food supplements, awarded Dr. Dobbins with the Excellence in Nutritional Education Award. To further honor Dr. Dobbins, Standard Process turned to Life Chiropractic College West and established the Dr. Michael Dobbins Excellence in Nutritional Education Scholarship. The goal of the scholarship is to recognize those students who have chosen the path of chiropractic and wellness to help others achieve optimal health.
The Dr. Michael Dobbins Excellence in Nutritional Education Scholarship is an annual award of $10,000. Each year, new candidates will be invited to apply for this prestigious award sponsored by Standard Process.
Scholarship Criteria:
- Requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.90
- Must graduate AFTER 9/22
- Applicant must be in good standing with all office on campus.
- Letter of recommendation from a LCCW professor
- Requires a 500-750 word essay on the following topic: The whole food philosophy of Standard Process was developed in 1929 by the company’s founder, Dr. Royal Lee, who believed “the best sources of vitamins and minerals are found in whole foods.” Please provide three reasons (with supporting information) why you believe that ninety years later, nutritional supplementation is more important than ever.
- Provide a detailed list of your contributions the chiropractic profession, to LCCW and to the community.

- Essay Foundation/context – Possible 20 points:

- Syntax & Grammar – Possible 20 points:

- Essay Content – Possible 40 points:
(Provides practical specific action steps for how you answered the question)- Accomplished — 33 – 40 points

Deadline
- Application Deadline: February 1, 2023 (Winter 2023). All required documents must be submitted online by this date. The Life West Scholarship committee will review/score the applicants based on the above rubric.
