The Life Chiropractic College West Postgraduate and Continuing Education Department is rolling out the 2020 Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (CCSP) seminar series this spring, a multi-faceted approach to learning more about all levels of sports chiropractic.
The series, which combines 50 live hours and 50 online hours, kicks off with the first of four monthly sessions March 7-8 on the Life West campus. CCSP runs through June and brings Olympics-experienced sports chiropractic professionals from across the country to teach its courses. Among other topics, participants will receive instruction on concussions, management of the extremities, emergency procedures and being a team doctor. Case studies are used throughout the program to make it real and immediately applicable to one’s practice.
“It’s very exciting to have the CCSP program here at Life West,” said Laurie Isenberg, Director of Postgraduate and Continuing Education. “The quality of instruction is top-notch.”
Among the instructors coming to Life West is Bill Moreau, DC, DACBSP. He will teach an opening session titled, “The Spine, Concussion and Team Physician Concepts.” Dr. Moreau has served as the Vice President of Sports Medicine at the United States Olympic Committee and has overseen all Team USA sports medicine activities at several Olympic Games.
The program features a total of 100 hours of study, with 50 through coursework at Life West and 50 accumulated online through seminars conducted by DConline. It also includes practice in the field, as well as written and practical tests that aim to prepare participants for the CCSP exam. That exam is conducted by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians in April and November of each year.
Between the quality of instruction and the depth of material, Isenberg believes there’s something for anyone who may be interested in sports chiropractic.
“It’s an exceptional opportunity,” she said. “At the end of the program, chiropractors receive certifications, which means a lot. The CCSP certification is terrific for growing and marketing practices. It shows that you have expertise dealing with a wide range of athletes.”
All DCs are eligible to participate in the series, as are chiropractic students in their final quarter of study. If you are interested in participating or have any questions about the program, visit the Life West Continuing Education website or email email@example.com.
