Dr. Glowaki revs up students ahead of presentation at The WAVE

Ahead of his upcoming discussion at The WAVE, Brad Glowaki, DC, visited Life Chiropractic College West on Friday for a pair of events designed to inform and inspire students. In addition to his duties as a special guest at Friday’s seminar, Dr. Glowaki also hosted a lunch event where he gave students tips for success in the chiropractic field.

The seminar was filled with energy from the start. Dr. Glowaki hit the stage to guitar licks from AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck,” then was adjusted by Life West Director of Alumni Relations Palmer Peet before bouncing up from his chair and bounding around the Standard Process Assembly Hall (SPAH) stage.

“We all have those down days, and we all have stuff that goes on,” he explained to a crowd of Life West students, faculty and staff. “What I’m here today to do, hopefully, is inspire you to push through those tough days.”

Dr. Glowaki began the seminar by detailing his professional chiropractic journey, which began when he opened a practice in Seal Beach, a Southern California town located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. He recalled others doubting his choice of location, saying that the surrounding body of water would rob him of a chance to meet prospective customers from neighboring cities and towns.

“The first thing I did was sign up for a surf competition in Seal Beach,” he said. “I set up a spinal screen booth on the beach, and I literally pulled my new patients out of the ocean. My first 11 new patients were surfers. Being a rebel is part of your success story.”

Dr. Glowaki’s success story includes overcoming skeptics and building a million-dollar practice in Seal Beach. At the seminar, he told the story of having to put folding chairs along the Pacific Coast Highway because the influx of patients was more than his small office could handle.

Often referred to as “Dr. Glow,” his honors include the 2012 Parker Seminars Chiropractor of the Year award and the 2008 California Chiropractic Association (CCA) Doctor of the Year award. Among his patients are world-class athletes such as three-time Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor and baseball stars Christian Yelich and Josh Hamilton, and he will be attending next year’s Summer Olympics, which will take place in Tokyo.

During both of his presentations Friday, Dr. Glowaki imparted pearls of wisdom to students about overcoming obstacles they may face during their careers.

“There are two pains in your practice,” he said. “There’s the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. Always choose the pain of discipline. Put in the work, put in the extra effort, go the extra mile. If you do that, practice gets easy. When it comes to running a successful practice, work is required. Struggle is not.”

The presenter also urged soon-to-be graduates to be active in communities and at conferences. This is fitting, as Dr. Glowaki—who has amassed more than 10,000 hours of public speaking—will return to the Bay Area in August for The WAVE, Life West’s annual chiropractic conference. His discussion will focus on Salutogenesis, chiropractic technique and global well-being.

The WAVE will be held August 16-18 at the Oakland Marriott City Center. The speaker lineup includes several of the chiropractic world’s most respected voices. In addition to Dr. Glowaki, experts like Dan Murphy, DC, and Heidi Haavik, DC, will take the stage. Register here.
