Life West students put Lasting Purpose into action in Bali

In December, eight Life West students and one faculty member went on a chiropractic service trip in Bali. This ten day trip marks the first service trip that is school and health center sponsored, allowing students to earn health center credits. The students and the faculty advisor spent three days working in Ashram Gandhi. They then headed to a village in rural Bali named Seraya Barat, where they provided free care to an unserved community for two days.

A student on the trip, James Evans, sent us photos and notes to keep the LCCW community up to date. James reported that many of the people they adjusted had unusual conditions by western standards, like scoliosis or injuries from falling from coconut trees.

James’ most memorable case was a woman who he saw all three days at the ashram. On the second day she brought her mom, and on the third she brought her family. “It was pretty sweet,” James said.

The team ran into a Life West alumni in one of the villages. He joined them for a day of service. It’s always great to hear our alumni are spreading the chiropractic message and serving the world with Lasting Purpose.

Learning chiropractic is about more than learning to adjust people. It is also learning how to SERVE people. James put it perfectly,” It is an amazing experience, to put into practice what you have learned in college. We learned how to not only deliver a great adjustment, but to serve and connect to people. This trip was invaluable.”
