Make Mine Vitalistic

I CAME TO LIFE WEST as Director of CE two years ago, with a lifetime of experience in higher education but little exposure to chiropractic. My on-again, off-again chiropractic visits never included an explanation of the philosophy behind the process.

One of my earliest lessons at Life West was that all chiropractic is not created equal. The first of our official institutional values points to: “The philosophy of chiropractic and the understanding of vitalism, holism and innate intelligence.”

The fourth Life West value highlights:“The seriousness of the subluxation and its effect on individual and global life expression.” Every academic aspect of Life West, from our DC courses to our CE courses, must be in congruence with these values. For me, as Director of CE, that means paying close attention to the philosophical underpinnings of CE instructors and programs, and never referring to adjustments as “manipulation.”

The Life West CE Department has redoubled our commitment to producing strong, vitalistic, subluxation-based programming. For example, we are currently promoting the passion and knowledge of Dr. Ankur Tayal, the Life West Philosophy Chair. Tayal teaches the CE seminars Applying Chiropractic Philosophy in Practice for Better Clinical Results in our CE Saturdays program, and Evidence-Based Approach to Chiropractic Philosophy online. Dr. Tayal explains, “People don’t buy what you do. They buy why you do it. The ‘why’ is the philosophy of chiropractic. So, we study the philosophy and then we will figure out everything else.”

People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.”

Dr. Jack Bourla, Johnnie Morgan, Kevin Camacho, Noah Volz, Lynn Do, Alan Bertolero, and Dr. Tamara MacIntyre

We’re also bringing back Dr. Bruce Lipton, who has paired up with two vitalistic chiropractors, Drs. Jeff Rockwell and Omri Sitton, to make the direct connection between epigenetics and vitalistic chiropractic practice. Their seminar is titled “Engaging the Science of Vitalism in Practice and in Life.”

And, naturally, there’s The WAVE: a three-day celebration of vitalistic chiropractic. Once you’ve left the vitalistic bubble of Life West, it may not be easy to stay in touch with vitalism in your practice. By turning to Life West for your CE, you keep that vitalistic flame burning, grow your vitalistic network, and continue moving your practice in the direction of excellence.

“People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.” Life West President Ron Oberstein, DC, puts it perfectly: “Our philosophy is our why. Without it, one is like a ship adrift in the ocean. With it, one is always anchored, strong and committed!” All our seminars are a great way to earn your relicensure hours and stay connected with the why of your practice.
