Rugby Continues to Roll at Life West

Life West Gladiatrix

In their second appearance in the USA Club 7s National Championship, the Life West Gladiatrix came home with hardware with a 5-0 victory over the Scion Sirens in the bronze medal match on Sunday, August 13.

Just off their Division I National Championship campaign in June, the Gladiatrix looked to add to their trophy case, but were stonewalled in the Cup Semi-Finals by the subsequent 7’s National Champions, the Seattle Atavus.

The Gladiatrix were without captains, Catie Benson and Jordan Gray, due to their invitation to join the USA Rugby World Cup team.
The Gladiatrix finished third overall in the women’s final standings.

Life West Gladiators

The weekend didn’t go as planned for the Life West Gladiators as they failed advance to the finals in the Men’s Cup and Men’s Plate tournament on Saturday, August 12.

After their Pacific Coast Championship victory against Washington Athletic Club, the Life West Gladiators were poised to make a run at the National Championship. The Denver Barbarians had other plans and blanketed our Gladiators 40-0 in the Men’s Cup quarter-finals.

The Gladiators had another chance to come home with some hardware in the third place match for the US Rugby Men’s Plate, but were defeated by the Chicago Lions 26-5.

The Gladiators finished in 8th overall in the men’s final standings.
