Students at Life Chiropractic College West are taught to give from their abundance. It’s a lesson we could all take to heart as #GivingTuesday approaches on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
This global day of giving takes place on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, when many of us are recovering from an abundance of turkey and shopping during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s a way to both kick off and celebrate charitable giving!
Life West embraces Giving Tuesday, and we are committed to raising $25,000 to fund three new alumni scholarships and grow the college’s President’s Circle, a membership society of benefactors committed to continued excellence at Life West. Jim Hawkins, who is retiring after 40 years of teaching, has committed to signing up 40 new members to the President’s Circle–one for each year he has served at Life West. New Alumni Scholarship Awards
The new alumni scholarships honor longstanding teachers and administrators at Life West:
The Jim Hawkins Scholarship will honor academic excellence in the basic sciences. To read more about Dr. Hawkins and his 40 years teaching at the college, read “New chapter begins for longtime Life West professor.”
The Jackie Biron Scholarship, named for the woman who many students know as the Director of Student Life and “Mamma Jackie,” will honor student leadership. Read more about her time at Life West in “Mamma Jackie journeys from temporary employee to LW leader.”
The Nancy McKillican Scholarship will acknowledge chiropractic philosophy. Nancy a longtime cheerleader for chiropractic and the former Alumni Coordinator, passed away in February 2018. Read about her in “Life West mourns the loss of Nancy McKillican.”
Our goal is to fully fund each scholarship so they can be awarded at the Alumni Luncheon at The WAVE 2019, Life West’s annual conference. You can find links to donate directly to each of the alumni scholarships on the Life West website.
