Life West at The Dew Tour

The Life West Sports Performance Institute (SPI) traveled to Breckenridge, CO to experience hands on training with world class athletes at the 2016 Dew Tour. This was the perfect opportunity for our students to get out of the books and into the real world of sports and chiropractic.

The Sports Performance Institute (SPI) team was lead by Dr. Sean Drake and joined by Richard Bahr’s WMI Global team and a group of students from Weber State. The entire group was able to integrate lessons from a variety of doctors including training from Dr. Drake on the power of the chiropractic adjustment and the role of subluxation in diminished performance in sports and life.

Chiropractors help athletes tap into their innate ability to heal. Every kind of performer wants to perform to their maximum potential.

“We can actually improve an athlete’s performance with a chiropractic adjustment, and more importantly – be able to help with motor control and to rebalance an athlete’s nervous system, long before we see an injury,” said Life West SPI Director Sean Drake.

During the full week of practice and competition our students spent time training with the emergency medical team, providing helmet checks, and even went out on the slopes with the athletes to help them prep for competition.

The days were long, but worthwhile. Our team was trained to be the first respondent if an athlete were to take a nasty spill. The team would take the necessary precautions to aid an athlete back on the snow safely; whether it was conducting a concussion test, providing an adjustment or evaluating extremities and mobility.

The Life West SPI students had a life changing experience with access to this level of sports competition. “The main goal is ensure the athletes get the best quality treatment as possible so they can compete at the highest level,” explained Life West student Federico Angel.

We can’t wait to see where the SPI team will take our students next.
