Ties between India, Life West strengthen with January service trip

In a second trip within six months, Life Chiropractic College West again provided chiropractic care to thousands during a trip to Mumbai, India in January.

The trip was full of exciting moments, including a big one early on in Delhi as Life West staff and faculty witnessed President Ron Oberstein cutting the ribbon for the new Life West Health Center in India. Student interns will be able to travel to the clinic in their final quarter of college to offer service, Dr. Oberstein said.

With the college president were faculty members Dr. Scott Donaldson, Vice President of Clinical Operations; Dr. Pardeep Kullar, Vice President of Academic Affairs; and Dr. Monica Smith, Director of Research. Life West’s Board Chair, Dr. Jimmy Nanda, and Board Member Dr. Angel Ochoa-Rea were also present to help inaugurate the Life Chiropractic College West-India Health Center.

“We call this hands-on education with cultural Immersion,” Dr. Oberstein added in a Facebook post. “This is the first step to creating a healthier India.” The project was supported by the Indian Association of Chiropractic Doctors (IACD) and the Sant Nirankari Mission.

The clinic will have areas dedicated to adjustments, a doctor’s office, a kitchen and a rooftop deck.

The trip also kicked off a service mission for about 60 doctors and student interns in Mumbai.

Dr. Oberstein reported later in the trip that the team from Life West served selflessly, adding: “Many healings, many lives changed.” He said 10,355 people were seen over three days, and noted the following highlights:

  • Hearing, talking, walking and more restored
  • Children’s lives changed
  • Paralyzed person regained feeling and motion
  • Tears of joy and love were shed every day
  • The power of the Chiropractic Adjustment was unleashed

Dr. Oberstein said the Life West chiropractic team came together and served with open hearts and humility, giving “everything they had and more for 3 long days.” He thanked Sat Guru Mata Ji and the Sant Nirankari Mission for their unwavering commitment.
