HVAC UPGRADES

Life West has started the background work on upgrading the HVAC system in the Health Center. All 22 thermostats are being replaced with new electronic units that will be hooked in to the building control system. These are replacing the current units that are controlled by compressed air. Health Center users will notice dramatically better temperature control and a better environment.

Electricians are running control wiring and installing interface panels in the Health Center electrical rooms. All work is being done overnight and on Sundays. Work will continue on installing the new thermostats and controls in the coming weeks.

RECYCLED WATER

The City of Hayward is ready to commission its new recycled water plant on the west end of Depot Road. Life West is proud to be the very first user to be hooked into the system. We will use recycled “gray” water exclusively on our campus. The city will retrofit all of our sprinklers and irrigation equipment at no cost, and the college will pay a reduced rate for this recycled water. This project has been in the works for three years, and we are glad to finally see it through.
