Dr. Annette Walker has joined Life West as its part-time Diversity and Inclusion Officer. She is responsible for cultivating a campus culture that respects diversity, embraces inclusion and fosters cultural awareness for all Life West students and employees
Dr. Walker received her doctorate degree in Organization and Leadership from University of San Francisco, a certificate in Race, Equity and Leadership in Schools from Harvard University, and a Certificate for Coaching for Equity from the National Equity Project.
Prior to joining Life West, she was the Kaleidoscope Mentoring Program Coordinator at California State University, East Bay and held a leadership position as Director of Graduate Admissions. She also served on the University’s Faculty Diversity and Equity Committee and its Campus Climate Survey team. She currently serves as President of the Hayward Unified School District Board of Education.
Dr. Walker enjoys walking and hiking, reading books on mindfulness and spirituality, and going to the movies. She is married with two adult daughters and one granddaughter, and she is expecting a grandson this summer. She can be reached by phone at extension 2900 or by email at awalker@lifewest.edu.
Dr. Walker’s office is located in the Library, room 117MM. She will be on campus four days a week and will be available for drop-in meetings on Thursdays from 1 – 3 pm.
