Task Force Communication: March 2nd, 2022

Mask Mandate Update

As of tomorrow, Thursday, March 3rd, the college will be implementing the new ACPHD guidance in full, which means there will be no indoor mask mandate for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. All patients, interns, faculty and employees of the Health Center are also covered by this new guidance.

On Monday, Alameda County Public Health Department announced it will be following the guidelines recently issued by California Public Health Department that now permits unvaccinated individuals, as well as vaccinated individuals, to no longer wear masks indoors if they so choose. See this link for the ACPHD announcement. As the ACPHD states: “Given improvements in local and statewide measures, this is a reasonable change.” The Task Force has consistently followed and implemented ACPHD requirements as they have changed over the last two years.

Please feel free to continue to wear masks based on your own risk and comfort level. Remember also to support those around you in their own choices and not to judge others where your choices differ from theirs. We are a community of individuals and health professionals, with respect toward our fellow human beings.

Notwithstanding the new setting where individuals are no longer required to wear masks indoors, if you have any symptoms at all, do not come on campus. Stay home, isolate, and if you are tested and positive, follow the established protocols. This requirement does not change. For those wishing to wear masks, remember that free N95 masks are still available in the Bookstore or Department of Human Resources.
