Life West follows CCE (Council on Chiropractic Education) guidelines, and there’s more than one way to meet them.
For those who have completed their bachelor’s degree and maintained a 2.5 GPA (best 90 credits), you likely qualify for admission to DC degree program.
For those interested in starting a Doctor of Chiropractic program as quickly as possible, admission is possible with only 90 undergrad semester units.
Required Courses:
While not a strict requirement, coursework in the life & physical sciences will help with the transition to a doctoral program.
Those with a fair amount of science coursework are eligible to start with 90 units with a slightly lower GPA requirement.
Required Courses:
90-unit admission with a 2.75 GPA requires 24 semester units in life and physical science courses.
Everyone’s journey is unique. That said, here are a few of the commonly asked questions or team gets about prerequisites:
No. Life West doesn't have a hard expiration on science coursework. Our admissions team reviews transcripts of any age as part of our free transcript evaluation process.
It's common. Many applicants finish remaining prerequisites at a community college or online while their application is in progress — admissions can map out exactly what's left.
There no specific major requirement. While we recommend science coursework to help with the transition to a DC program, it's not a prerequisite for admission.
Not necessarily. Some applicants are accepted with sufficient credit hours and science prerequisites even without a completed degree. A transcript evaluation will confirm where you stand.
Students applying to the Life West DC program are reviewed based on their best 90 transferable semester units. For those who have completed more than 90 units, your acceptance pathway is based on your best 90 units. This often means a class that pulled your GPA down could be omitted if a better 90 units can be used.
