Life West Commitment to Excellence Scholarship
Five Awards of $1,000 awarded every quarter
Scholarship Criteria:
- Awards areavailable to all students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00* who have excelled in one or more of the following areas: community service, health center accomplishments, research, academic achievements, athletics, and contributions to the chiropractic profession and/or other exceptional accomplishments.
- *A student with a cumulative GPA of 2.85 –2.99 may submit a letter of appeal as to why their circumstances warrant special considerations.
- Applicant must be in good standing with all offices on campus.
- Requires one letter of recommendationand essay (see below).
- Applicants may be contacted for additional information and/or verification.
- Prior recipients must provide substantially new information/essay
Essay Requirements
Write a short essay (500 words max) about your commitment to excellence in community service, health center accomplishments, research, academic achievements,athletics, contributions to the chiropractic profession and/or other exceptional accomplishments.
Essay Scoring Rubric
- Context – Possible 25 points:
- Accomplished — 19 – 25 points
- Good — 13 – 18 points
- Satisfactory — 6 – 12 points
- Needs Improvement — 0 – 5 points
- Syntax & Grammar – Possible 25 points:
- Accomplished — 19 – 25 points
- Good — 13 – 18 points
- Satisfactory — 6 – 12 points
- Needs Improvement — 0 – 5 points
- Content – Possible 50 points:
- Accomplished — 38 – 50 points
- Good — 25 – 37 points
- Satisfactory — 12 – 24 points
- Needs Improvement — 0 – 11 points
Deadline
- Application Deadline: February 1, 2023 (Winter 2023). All required documents must be submitted online via the links. The Life West Scholarship committee will review/score the applicants based on the above rubric.
