The Living Museum Project

Imagine sitting on a park bench next to DD Palmer. Picture yourself relaxing and reading a book next to BJ Palmer, or Mabel Palmer, or Sid Williams.

Wouldn’t it be amazing to spend time with the heroes and mentors who have come before us?

This spring, Life West launched the Living Museum Project. The Living Museum is a series of life-sized bronze statues of our profession’s great leaders. The statues will be placed around the campus so the Life West community can eat lunch with DD, or enjoy a cup of coffee with Mabel. This kind of art creates connection and accessibility to our historic past.

The Living Museum Project is entirely funded by a fund raising effort which not only covers the cost of the bronze figures, but creates opportunities for chiropractors in the field to have a piece of history in their own home or practice. We have commissioned the bronze artist, Linda Serraro, (who made the DD statue) to produce a very limited edition of 40 gorgeous bronze busts of DD Palmer. The proceeds of the sales of the bronze busts pay for the full size version of DD Palmer. There will be a series of busts available for sale as the project continues with other figures.

In August we added our first piece of art to the Living Museum Collection. A stunning statue of DD Palmer was unveiled in a ceremony in Sid Square. The campus has been enlivened by the addition of this striking piece of art in our busy courtyard.
