A message to alumni from Christian Labau, DC

I hope this message finds you and your family in good health.
I have been asked by my fellow Life West alumni for updates on what’s happening within the Technique Department. As the Technique Department Chair and a Life West alumnus, I am concerned with preserving the health of our students and the quality of education provided at our college.
In 2020, the Life West technique department had to reinvent itself like never before. We have managed to find ways to allow our students to move forward in the curriculum while maintaining the standards of education that built Life West’s reputation over the last 40 years.
During the Fall quarter, Life West has decided to prioritize the health of our students, faculty, and staff in order to avoid possible COVID-19 exposure on campus after the Thanksgiving weekend. For this reason, all on-campus technique and clinical science labs for this quarter were completed prior to Thanksgiving. The remainder of the quarter will be completed with online lectures off-campus.
On-campus technique classes will return for the Winter quarter, which begins Monday, Jan. 11. At that point, technique classes will be taught in the same format, with online lectures and on-campus labs over a “normal” 11-week quarter.
To remain compliant with the Alameda County Health Department regulations, we are applying the following rules for campus operations:
  • Only two monitored entry points on campus (library side and Health Center side)
  • Pre-screening before entering campus
  • Mandatory face coverings at all time for any person stepping on campus
  • Daily classroom and offices sanitation every morning before the campus opens
  • Sanitation stations in every classroom available at all time
  • Cleaning chiropractic tables and equipment at the beginning of every technique lab course, in addition to the daily sanitation schedule

I hope this message brings you clarification on our commitment to the health of our students, faculty and staff and the dedication to our chiropractic program despite the present situation.

Sincerely,
Christian Labau, DC
