March CE courses include lower extremity adjusting, documentation

For chiropractors, continuing education is more than just a mandated obstacle to overcome every year. With new technologies being developed and existing methodologies being honed, continuing education is the lifeblood that keeps the chiropractic profession growing.

For chiropractors practicing in the Golden State, the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners (CBCE) requires 24 hours of continuing education each year, prior to the last day of your birthday month. While up to 12 of those 24 hours can be taken online, Life West offers CE Saturdays each month to ensure our alumni and other chiropractors in the state attain the necessary live hours for relicensure.

March CE Madness

In March, CE Life West will be hosting several classes that can help fulfill your mandated annual CE requirements. Each course features instructors that are leaders in the chiropractic field presenting topics in engaging formats that are not only educational, but enjoyable as well.

Advanced Principles of Lower Extremity Adjusting:

Saturday, March 16, 8 am-6 pm
Sunday, March 17, 8 am-2 pm
Life West Campus, Hayward, California

Taught by John Downes, DC, CCEP, this class is the third module of the Extremities Practitioner series, and will fill 15 CE hours, including 10 Category A Exam/Technique hours. A 1986 graduate of Life College and the Director of the Sport Science Institute at Life University, Dr. Downes has taught CCEP material since 1993 and serves on the Board for the Council on Extremity Adjusting. This course will improve the learners’ ability to diagnose and treat lower extremity subluxations encountered in practice. Learn more about the class, the instructor, and register here.

Documentation, Compliance, and ICD-10 Coding:

Saturday, March 30, 8 am-6 pm
Sunday, March 31, 8 am-2 pm
Life West Campus, Hayward, California

Taught by Mario Fucinari, DC, this class will fill 12 CE hours, including two Category A Ethics and ten Category A Billing/Exam/Technique hours. Uniquely qualified as one of the few instructors still in full-time practice, Dr. Fucinari’s class will cover the latest requirements covering Ethics and Law, History Taking, Documentation and Proper and Ethical Billing and Coding expectations. This course is designed for everybody—doctors, staff and billers will gain useful information—particularly as it relates to how changes in the chiropractic documentation rules and regulations for Medicare last year are being implemented by insurance carriers, and how they will affect your practice. In his humorous back-to-the-basics approach, Dr. Fucinari will show you step-by-step procedures to implement the new policies and coding changes into your office. And best of all, you can get all of your California live hours by attending this one fun, laid-back course. Also, attendees of the full 12-hour seminar will qualify for a 5% discount in NCMIC policy rates upon renewal. Learn more about the class, the instructor and register here.
