Construction updates: Feb. 16, 2021

Construction resumed on the new courtyard project this week. Crews worked to layout and trench the site for the installation of underground irrigation, electrical and AV conduits. They will continue utility and grading work into next week.

Work on the new gymnasium door project continued as well. Off site, the structural steel hardware which surrounds the doors s being fabricated and inspected and will be installed starting early next week. On Thursday, Feb. 11, electricians started installing the new roof power drops throughout the gym. Please continue to avoid the marked off construction areas.

Facilities recently completed the two year project to upgrade the temperature controls throughout the Health Center, Executive Offices, OAA, ASC and Cafe areas. As a part of that, we installed 53 new electronic temperature sensors in those areas.

If you have one of these new sensors in your area, you now have far superior control of your comfort level. The sensor’s display constantly switches between the current space temperature and the current space CO2 level. The entire system is programmed to keep the temperature between 69 and 74 degrees. If you wish it to be hotter or cooler at some point, you can temporarily override that by pressing the up or down arrows on the sensor to change the temperature up or down. That override will last for 2 hours, and then revert to the preprogrammed temperature range. This override will also serve to turn the system on entirely on a day or time when it is not usually on.

Any questions about the new system can be send directly to Michael Baldwin, Director of Facilities.
